The other day someone wrote to me on Instagram : « Go get a life, put a few pounds on and go have fun! » 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Why is it such a problem for some people to understand that the way I find my happiness may be different from theirs? Why do certain people feel they know how to live my life better than I do? I totally get that for some people partying, drinking, indulging in lots of food, going out until the early morning is their idea of having a great time. When I watch them, I see them happy, radiant and empowered. But what works for certain people doesn’t necessarily work for another. Some people truly find strength being around others. It’s not my case. Why is it that some people tend to think that leading a sporty life is boring? It’s not: it’s fun, full of challenges and makes you feel fantastic!😃😃😃 I never partied when I was 20, so I most certainly won’t start at 51. It’s probably why i got married so late (at 33). Partying was all the others did and always turned out to be an issue with me. Of course I tried to do it to fit in and did it to make the other person happy, but it’s not who i am. It wasn’t me at 20 and still isn’t today. So, While some of you are making the most of your life partying, drinking, going out until 5am i choose to make the most of mine, MY way, getting up at 5 for a jog with the sunrise, going for a walk alone to connect with myself, meditating about my strength and weaknessess to start the day off right, then maybe enjoying a nice coffee in a caffè to watch people as they go by or to enjoy a good book or to write. I am not saying my way is best.. I am saying that my way is what makes ME happy. So if any of you are worried or think I should put on some weight... 💫 8 days since I quit coffee and I am myself again.😃 I love cold water and believe in its benefits. Cold showers, winter ocean swimming always have a way of invigorating me.😃😃😃🤗🌸 I also enjoy a hot sauna or hammam. Go hot and cold. Teach your body to push past its comfort zone. For those of you who feel it’s too much, you can start in the shower by alternating cold a few seconds, moving on to warm and then hot and repeat the process several times. Over time you can increase the number of cold seconds😅. Photo taken in Namibia!🤗Sossusvlei (Deadvlei), Namibia... famous for its dead camel thorn trees that contrast with the red/orange dunes and the blue sky. The trees here are estimated to be approximately 900 years old, however they have not decomposed due to the dry climate. If you don’t like where you are in life, well get up, move and do something about it... you are not a tree. You don’t like the way you look... move, go workout! All it takes is to eat a little less (as a rule I always leave the table feeling great, never like a ate too much). You are no longer hungry but you want desert? That’s fine, save it for later. Tell yourself you can have that desert in 2hours. You don’t like exercising (or don’t want to today)? Go for a long walk: shoulders back, keep your abs tight and contracted and feel confident! Go to the mall, walk twice around the whole mall speedwalking and then relax and maybe reward yourself to a little treat! Go for a walk or bike ride out in the countryside, or a long stroll on the beach. Play beach volleyball. Commit to taking only stairs today.. There are many ways to get exercise in your day... try to find ways to make it fun! When working out FOCUS : 200% (your body working out 100%, your mind 100% and totally focused on what your are doing/feeling). Better to do 20 minutes of focused traning than one hour of training with no heart into it. If you are not where you want to be.. then move. You are not a tree. 🌟 many people train because they feel they have to (because it’s good for them or because it will help them lose weight). But finding pleasure in exercising is the best way to do it for sure on a regular basis. Hit outdoors, soak up some sun, take your kids and dog along... enjoy moving more. Going for a walk, shooting a few hoops, going for a bike ride, playing voleyball or soccer. I love going to the gym but nothing can compare to an outdoor workout. Have fun. 💫 Soon I will be turning 52 and as I look back I find that one of the most important life lessons I have learnt is the fact that failing isn’t the end, it’s part of the whole process. When toddlers learn how to walk, they keep falling over and over again and sometimes it can be really painful. But do they ever quit? No. They get back up and try again. Somehow, along the way to adulthood, we tend to see failure as something negative. Thomas Edison when trying over and over again to create the lightbulb said: « I have not failed. I have only found 10000 ways that won’t work. » So, if you are trying to accomplish something, keep trying. Read about it, watch videos about it, visualize it, talk about it, meet people that have succeeded in doing it.. just get up and do something, anything that will get you one step closer to succeeding and if along the way you fall (that is stop trying, have doubts..) it’s not over yet... get up and try again. 💫 POSTURE 💫 We work out: lift weights, do cardio, stretch, strengthen our core... but as we age it’s so important to keep working on our posture as well. I have a tendency to slouch and make sure I regularly to exercises that correct this. I find there is nothing better than taking a stick and redoing all the basic exercises with it while focusing on proper positioning. It’s also important to stretch since having your shoulders slouch forward usually means your pectoralis (chest) muscles are too weak and that your back muscles need some strengthening. Lie your back on a balance ball and place your arms overhead and then move them to your sides to open your rib cage. Today I went to see my doctor (Dr Gal) and the first thing he asked me is how my book was coming along. When I told him that I had sent it off to the book contest (editor), he spontaneously got his wallet out and asked how much it wqs going to cost and that he would like to pre-order it! It was so unexpected, so kind... I felt like crying.🤗🤗🤗 I told him That I would most probably will have to self publish it on Amazon for 2€. He handed me 3€ and said : « I want my copy hand delivered and signed. »😀😀😀 It was so sweet!!! A friend had given me a twenty euro bill over a year ago saying I should keep it for when the books comes out, to buy the first copy. So I placed the bill and coins in a box with a huge smile.
